We are pleased to invite you to the Baltic Valuation Conference 2001, which will be held on the 27th to 29th of September 2001 in Riga, Republic of Latvia.
This is a first time the Baltic Valuation Conference is held in Latvia. The number of the Conference participants increase year by year. About 60 participants from eight different countries, namely from Germany, Norway, Finland, Russia, Lithuania, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia attended the last conference in Turku, Finland in 2000. We hope this year the number of participants will even grow. The conference is an informal forum for the valuators around the Baltic Sea to discuss common issues, to exchange ideas and to learn from each other’s experience. As always the participation in the conference is free, except traveling, accommodation and meal expenses to be covered by the participants.
This year subject of discussion will be Organization of the relationship between appraisers and financial institutions. It actually is a very broad and never-ending topic because it includes contractual base of cooperation, valuation standards used, necessity of certification, independence of appraisers, liability insurance for appraisers and so on.
This could be an excellent opportunity to learn opinion of the other parties involved in this cooperation, like bankers and insurers. All these issues, of course, cannot be deeply discussed in a single conference day but it could serve, at least as introduction of the topic.
Taking into account the significance of the Conference and the subject, we expect that it will be broadly attended not only by appraisers from the Baltic countries but also by other interested parties, like specialists from the major banks and insurance companies. It could be also a fantastic opportunity to share ideas between these parties and to find some solutions to still unsolved issues. We hope we will manage to make this event as interesting as possible.
